Kaiju Ecopoetics

Kaiju Poetics is part poetry sequence, part board game, part old-school presentation. A three chapter poetic performance inviting the audience to create a world as it unfolds. Participants take part in the map-making of a place over hundreds of years.

Using the symbolism of Kaiju, giant monsters like Godzilla, to present an unstoppable wave of climate collapse, and moving between this horizon-spanning scale to the most intimate scenes of domestic life in the shadow of rapid gentrification, Kaiju Poetics investigates human and non-human growth and what we can do to feel like part of an organism much bigger than ourselves.

Kaiju Poetics has been performed at:

  • Good Game Dev Club (August 2024)
  • Glasgow Independent Game Festival (July 2024)
  • Phoenix Cinema and Art Centre, Leicester (November 2023)
  • A MAZE Berlin (May 2023)

The performance is available to programme, and is also being developed as a board game and poetry pamphlet to be played at home.
