The spirit board is a curiosity of its time, but its methods are as uncanny today as they ever were. Nick Murray gives the spirit board a technological overhaul. Virtual space and The Beyond overlap to explore the nature of ghosts and remembering.

Commissioned by Penned in the Margins and Mercy for the Electronic Voice Phenomena performance series, Spirit Board #1 is an intimate interactive performance piece utilising hidden NFC technology and a phone handset.

Spirit Board #1 exists in both a guided and an autotheatrical form, which can be performed by two or more participants.
